Terms of Use — GRTechnologies ChartAssist
Last updated: August 2026
These terms govern your use of GRTechnologies ChartAssist (the "extension"), a Chrome browser extension published by Gardner Responder Technologies ("we", "us"). By installing or using the extension, you agree to these terms. If you use the extension on behalf of an EMS agency or organization, you agree to them on that organization's behalf.
Independent tool — not affiliated with emsCharts or ZOLL
ChartAssist is an independent, third-party tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or supported by emsCharts, Inc., ZOLL Data Systems, ZOLL Medical Corporation, or any of their affiliates (together, "emsCharts / ZOLL"). "emsCharts", "ZOLL", and related names and logos are the property of their respective owners and are used here only to describe what the extension works with.
The extension is not part of the emsCharts product and does not modify emsCharts servers or data. It runs in your own browser and fills the same form fields you could fill by hand. emsCharts / ZOLL provide no support for this or any third-party browser extension; all support for ChartAssist comes from us (see Support and updates below).
What the extension does — and doesn't do
ChartAssist fills default values you configure into fields on emsCharts patient care report (PCR) pages, clears those same fields on request, and provides review aids such as QA Mode and preset buttons. It reads and writes only the form fields it is designed to manage, in your browser.
- It does not store, transmit, or process patient data or protected health information (PHI). See our Privacy Policy for details.
- It does not replace your clinical judgment or your responsibility to review each chart. The values it fills are the templates you chose to pre-load; you are responsible for confirming that every chart is complete, accurate, and appropriate before you sign or submit it.
- It is not a medical device, a system of record, or a substitute for emsCharts.
Your responsibilities
- Review every chart. Auto-filled defaults are a starting point, not a finished report. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of any PCR you create or submit.
- Use only where authorized. Use the extension only with accounts and agencies authorized to access emsCharts, and in a manner consistent with emsCharts' / ZOLL's own terms and your organization's policies. You are responsible for HIPAA compliance and for safeguarding patient information in emsCharts.
- Keep the extension current. emsCharts changes over time. Run the extension's current version and report anything that looks wrong, so fields keep filling correctly.
Provided "as is" — no warranty
The extension is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with any particular version of emsCharts, or that it will fill, clear, or map every field correctly.
Because emsCharts is maintained by emsCharts / ZOLL and can change at any time without notice, a change on their side may cause a field to stop filling, fill incorrectly, or otherwise behave unexpectedly until the extension is updated. This is expected in the life of any third-party tool, and it does not create a warranty or a guaranteed fix timeline.
Support and updates
We provide support for ChartAssist itself — emsCharts / ZOLL do not support third-party extensions.
- How to get help. Email support@grtechsupport.com with a description of the problem, the affected page, and your extension version. We aim to respond to support requests within a few business days.
- Updates. We release updates through the Chrome Web Store, which Chrome installs automatically. When an emsCharts change breaks a field, we work to publish a fix as soon as reasonably practicable, but we do not guarantee a specific turnaround. The extension also monitors its own fields at runtime and warns you in-page when a field it expects can no longer be found, so you can chart it manually in the meantime.
- No uptime or availability guarantee. The account features — creating an account, signing in, resetting a password, and redeeming an access code — depend on a hosted authentication service and on your network, which we do not guarantee will always be reachable. If that service is unavailable, someone who is already signed in can keep using the extension until their session expires, but signing in or creating a new account may not be possible until it is restored. Charting directly in emsCharts never depends on the extension or on that service, so an outage does not prevent you from documenting a call.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gardner Responder Technologies will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, records, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the extension — including any charting error, omission, or misfiled field. You are responsible for reviewing each chart before signing or submitting it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with a revised date above. Continued use of the extension after a change means you accept the updated terms.
